Without the tow package, you would have to run the wires or buy an adapter to tie into the lights on the rear.

The adapter for tapping into the rear light will only get you a few of the connections you need. In addition to those you will have to run two wires from the front to the back. One to the battery with a circuit breaker and one to the brake controller. You will also need to run a wire from the brake controller to the battery with a circuit breaker and tap one into the output side of brake switch. The brake controller will have wiring instructions. The hardest part is running the wiring nicely from front to back, into engine compartment and into the cab. I was able to use an existing fire wall penetration with an existing grommet removing the grommet and using a metal hanger to fish it through. Took me awhile but I am meticulous and did a nice professional type install.
