Default K & M filter

I was thinking of installing a K&M air filter on my 06 Dakota 3.7. Never had one on any vehicle I have owned in the past. Is there anything else you have to do or just buy and install? Does it improve mileage and increase power any? Just checking.

if you purchase just a drop in filter, you have to do nothing, but a full fipk you will have to assemble it and install on truck, they are simple, I assembled mine on the kitchen table first to see how it went together.

It will do nothing performance wise, contrary to popular thought. Sure, it may add some HP, but there is really no seat of the pants difference in performance or mileage. It does make a cool sound though. If I were you, I'd try to find a used one someone may be parting out, or get a cheapy on off ebay, or build your own at a fraction of the cost of a K&N. IMO, the premium cost assiociated with a brand name one does not justify any cost savings whatsoever.
