I'm in need of new front wheel hub bearing assy's so I want to try and save some money and get them online probably through ebay. How can I tell if my truck has 4 or 2 wheel ABS? It's a 2008 Dakota 4x4 Quad Cab 4.7L.
2 wheel ABS was standard, and 4 wheel ABS was optional.
You can get the answer with a build sheet, which you can get HERE. You'll get an answer usually in a couple of days.
Or post up or PM me your VIN and I can get it quicker.
However, even if you have 2 wheel ABS, you still have 1 speed sensor hub (right side i believe), so if you're going to replace the hubs, you need 1 with and 1 without

Mystery solved! I have a wire leading from my left front hub to a connector on the frame, and I KNOW I have two-wheel ABS, and wondered, wt heck?

05 Dak RW ABS and I don't have the sensor on either side. Maybe its just on the newer daks or possibly even that someone replaced just 1 hub and used an ABS compatible one assuming all vehicles in the 21st century have 4 wheel ABS.

Yes, I think it is just the newer trucks.
No, it is not a hub replaced with the wrong one. There is a wire that is connected to a plug on the driver's side frame.
Damn I really wish I would've checked this thread earlier. Went down to my buddies shop today to do my front brakes and the front hub assy's. Did the drivers side first and noticed it has a speed sensor so I figured ok, looks like I will be doing just the brakes today. Then got to the right side and it had no speed sensor so I changed that one. I ordered the two online so I will have to check on the return policy unless anyone here needs one with no speed sensor. And I will be ordering one with a speed sensor.
