Default DRLs??? Help me.

I have had my 2006 dakota for awhile and every hunting season I get extremely annoyed how I have to push my E-brake in to get my DRLs to shut off. Now I am considering installing a light bar or some KC lights and was hoping to figure out how to shut them off for good. Also I have heard that it will mess with HIDs and I plan on adding those soon too.

Things I have read...
1. The dealer can shut them off.
They cannot, I took it to them today and they told me I was out of luck.

2. Push your E-brake part way down.
This gets annoying as I drive a manual and use the e-brake when I park so I would prefer to find a better solution.

3. Someone found a wire and cut it, or added a switch to it, but said that an indicator on their dash came on for a burnt out bulb.

I think that 3. is my best option because I have a very basic model dakota (manual windows, locks, etc) So I think that maybe the indicator on the dash may not exist on my pickup. In the 5 years I have owned it I havent once had an alert on my dash that isnt wiper fluid.

Does anyone know where the best place to get to the wire is, or what wire it is?
Or if anyone has a better idea (fuse, relay, etc) that might get the job done, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Also, please do not turn this into an argument over why I should or should not have DRLs on or off. I have my reasons to turn them off and know when to turn on my headlights so people can see me.
