Default 2006 Dakota Question

Just recently bought a 2006 dakota slt 2wd with factory installed tow package. As I was intalling a remote starter, I found what looks like a little motor plugged in but hanging just right next to the OBD II. does any body know what this is? I unplugged it to take pictures.

Thanks in advance

Is there a part number on it?

Unfortunately there isn't any marking except for the 1304. Tried googling it but nothing comes back.

Is there anything that doesn't appear to function correctly? Like switching from vent to defrost. That would be the only motor I know about in the cabin, but that doesn't look right to be that motor.

How many wires are going into it, and what colors are they? That might help track it down a little more. Can you also take a picture of the connector itself?

There's only two wires on the plug itself. One is green with orange trace and the other one is black

I'm thinking it is part of this circuit: 24 B30 20DG/OR BTSI SOLENOID CONTROL

It is the brake/transmission shift interlock. If everything is "working" someone might have rigged it so the transmission can be shifted out of park with out putting your foot on the brake. Try it out?

The only things I can see with Dark Green/Orange wires are the BTSI solenoid circuit, Audio Left, Horn Relay Output, Starter Control Relay, and Brake Fluid Level Sensor.

Thanks Northgator8, it is indeed the BTSI. Dealer wants $107 to replace the entire shifter cable with that attached
