Default CD Problem-Truch does not recognize CD Player

I have a 2005 Dakota with the Infinity sound system and 6 disc CD Changer. I had an issue with a battery with a bad cell, and had to pull the battery out of the truck to go and get a new one. After reinstalling the battery, I could hear the CD changer “cycling”. It finally stopped. Now, for lack of a better term, the truck refuses to recognize CD mode. I can get AM or FM fine, but not CD. Even though, sometimes you can hear the CD Changer cycling, but the truck ignores the CD player. At times it cycles with the ignition off, but you cannot access the CD either through the dash, or steering wheel controls.

I am also a victim of the phantom transfer case syndrome, and have pulled the fuse as a temporary fix. Probably paranoid, but I cannot help wondering if the two problems are related. Thanks.

I had that changer in my 08 caliber, i had a CD get stuck and it would do the same. take it out of the truck and open her up, you should see a CD where it shouldn't be. Mine was on warranty so the dealership did it for me.

Did it do that even with the truck turned off?

Ignition in on or ACC, with the engine on or not yes, ignition off with the key out, no.

Probably just a Céline Dion or Harmonium (perhaps Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison) cd stuck in there.

I think you will have to pull the player apart and get the cd out of there.

Now you have a good reason to swap in the other stock radio, the single CD with AUX input.

I pulled the CD Player out of the truck and dissembled it, It had 6 CDs in it, but it did not recognize any of them. One of the CDs appeared to be stuck because the label got hot and warped. Now I need to reassemble it, and be sure the CD spacers are in correctly. If there a schematic anywhere online? I did not see one in the shop manual. Thanks.

Discover a couple of broken plastic pieces in CD player, so I eeplaced Radio/CD Player with new unit purchased on E-Bay for $135 plus shipping. Plug in installation works perfectly with Infinity system. No more mystery noises.
