Default '05 Dakota Master Power Window Controller Removal

Over the years my Quad Cab's driver's (master) window controller has progressively failed. First the 2 back windows would only go down...not up. Then the same for the pass window...down but no up. Have to raise those windows with the individual controls. Driver's window operation is still OK.

So I want to replace the master controller.

1) Can I remove it from the door panel, or will I need to remove the panel??

2) If I need to removal panel are there any tree clips, etc to watch out for??

3) Any recommendations on where to get the new/rebuilt controller??

Thanks, Bob

I have a 2008 Dakota and a couple of months ago driver's window would not go up after paying for a car wash. LOL

I was able to just pop it out.

As for a replacement part, I priced them both on EBay and Amazon and I think they were around $80. I never bought it though since it was the motor that was bad.

Since it pops out and easily goes back in, you may want to try a junk yard. You can test it before you leave the place.

PS - I deleted my browser bookmarks for the web pages, but I do remember that the part number covered a few different Dodge/Chrysler models for and around the 2008 year.

If you want to just replace it, you can find several on ebay that are priced anywhere from $25-50. Using a butter or putty knife, or something of the like, just slip it under the lip of the window controller around the edges and work your way around starting from the back, prying it up a little at a time and it will pop right out, then the front will slip out. Disconnect the wire harnesses, and a new one will plug right in. Pretty simple and can be done in less than 5 min.

I would also suggest checking the wires in the conduit between the body and door, they occasionally fracture and cause issues.

Italiandominator...you were exactly correct. Popped out...$32 later the replacement popped in...and all windows are fine.

And Mikedilligaf was correct too...the part number is widely used in Durango and others for many years.

Thanks. Bob

Glad I could help...and yeah, you will find a lot of Durango parts that are compatible. Keep in mind that the parts they have that work in our trucks don't follow the same model years. IIRC, Durango's starting in 2003 had some matching/compatible interior and under the hood parts.
