Putting stock 4x components on your truck will suck almost as much as the stock 2 wheel drive truck does lol.

If your going to put in the labor and buy all the parts, you might as well spend a little extra for something custom. It will be worth it in the long run...unless the shop totally hacks ur ride up...then that will suck.

The Getrag 238 is in my truck. To my knowledge, for the major swapping components, obviously you will need the tcase, front diff assembly, cv axles, wheel hubs, front driveshaft, rear driveshaft, and either factory or home-made wiring for the t case actuator, ecu (if using factory wiring). If you currently have front wheel speed sensors, this may pose a problem with the ABS DTC codes after the swap if you don't get the 4x4 ecu and programming.

I'm planning on doing a SAS with 4x4. Hope in to get done mid March or April. Just planning out and research now regarding transfer case, I'm hoping to use a mechanical shifter. I know the NV233/NV244 have the shifter motor attached to it, so in hopes and dreams there may be a mechanical shifter out there. Waitin to here back from the manufacture of GETRAG. The guy who will be doing the work for me builds off road race trucks here in Cali. He has done some nice work. Probably will get the crappy radiator support redone while he's down there. I really need to pick up on my welding and fab skills. Any recommendations for model/type/brand of shocks to be used with the leafs?

Front wheel speed sensors, I'm assuming so, will have to check. That will be a interesting one to figure out.

Thanks for the changing title.. all though I'm sure 2x4 got some attention.

Default Problem...

Doing some research into the conversion and I find this. Shows me 2 different types of transmissions.

Can some explain to me the difference in these cases? Will I need to change my transmission case housing as well?
From what everyone is saying the transfer case is a direct bolt on but this is throwing me for a loop...

The extension and tail peice are the only things you need. The transmission is the same. You need to get rid of the yoke setup from the 2wd to the spline setup so you can bolt up a transfer case.

Does anyone know where to purchase just the tailshaft of the Getrag 238 4x4??
Or are there different manual transmissions that bolt up to our 4.7 that will make the 4x4 conversion easier, possibly one with manuel shift transfer case?
Update, I'll be going with the NV244, which is a all wheel drive tcase. Looking to see what in tells for the mode switch for 4lo and 4high or a way to make a manuel shift with the nv244.

Default Bad news

Well the SAS and 4x2 to 4x4 conversion was going to far above budget, so I bought a Harley instead. I was willing to spend 7k but not double that. Really wish I could of done this but looks like a lost cause for now.

My new Harley!
