2005 Dakota 4.7 to HO swap
HI all, looking to replace my 4.7 due to mileage and head gasket. I can pickup a used low mileage 2005 or 2006 HO for reasonably cheap with a warranty. What would the swap entail? Havent found any specific post about this.
Any help would be appreciated!

it will be a straight swap, but the big thing is you will need the computer that comes with the motor, or you will have to have dodge write you one, which will cost alot

Would that also apply to the 06 motor, drop right in with computer? The 06 has the dual mass harmonic balancer.

Ho cams, intake mani, cai, hemifever tuning, electric fan, throttle body.
There. You'll be picking on stock hemi rams in the school yard.
Edit: And fix the head gasket. Lol

Think I'm going to stick to the stock 2005 HO just to keep it simple. What should I absolutely replace on the replacement engine besides the obvious cover gaskets? No mods at this time. Thanks for the help!

Well you might as well check timing and replace if need be. Water pump. Spark plugs. Thermostat and rad hoses. Serp belt. Inspect motor mounts. New air filter.
The usual.
