BFG All Terrain KO2
So I just bought a set of 285/75/16 BFG KO2s and slapped them on my Dakota. So far I like them, but I've been fighting with getting the air pressures right. They're E-rated (the only way they come) so the max psi is 80, but I can't find any info on the minimum psi. Why would I want to know that you ask? As I'm sure all of you know, the rear of Dakotas are verrrry light compared to the front end, and with 38psi (I started with 55 in all 4 tires) the outside 1/2 - 3/4" of the tread isn't making contact with the road. And I don't want uneven wear.
So does anyone else have them, or have a recommendation of how I can find out how low I can go on air pressure to get a full contact patch without causing any issues? Thanks!

I'm running them at 45psi on the rear of my F-250 with no issues, but mine are 315/75R16, so max pressure is only 65psi.
I don't see any reason you can't run them at 35psi or so on your truck. Just keep an eye on them for strange wear patterns.

Thats why i never put E rated tires on a light pickup truck. They ride like crap and wear fast unless you run anything close to 80psi.
Yeah, I just bumped the rears down to 35 too. If that doesn't get a full contact patch I might go down to 32 but I don't want to go any less. With my D-rated BFG A/Ts I was running 30 in the rear, but I don't know what difference there is safety wise with the E rated. Especially for highways driving when my speed is usually 80+MPH :/

I had my e rated 245/75R16 General Grabber AT2's aired to 35 PSI. I found that at that pressure i had the best contact patch and i never had a wear issue. even after 2 and a half years (when i sold the truck) the tires barely had wear. I found the sidewalls quite stiff which affected the comfort offroad, but onroad the truck handled great.
But offroad, i loved the confidence that i had knowing that i can put pretty much the entire weight of the truck on one tire and not worry about the tires.
