Default 2008 Dakota 4.7 Overheating

Done some searching, and first thing first looks like I should flush my radiator. I do have the Trans Cooler as well in front of the radiator. The truck also has a Body Lift Kit. The problem is the truck has a plow up front which does block airflow down low.

So Looking for larger radiator and maybe changing the fan setup.

1) It looks like the first thing is a 180 degree thermostat. Would it throw a CEL?

1) Could I get a link to the HHR and efan mod? I tried finding one, but wasn't successful for the 3rd gen. Also what do people do about fan shrouds, etc?

2) I saw somewhere that a larger radiator from a 5.7 Hemi Durango was used, any more info on what needs to be modified to make this work?

3) Anything else I should try? I know the plow on the front wasn't a big deal on my 03 Dakota, but the radiator sat much higher up in that truck.

Thanks guys!

Most of the time I see an overheating problem with a 4.7, it's a cylinder head. I would also make the argument that that plow is too much gear for that drive train.

I've had an 03 Quad 4.7l V8 that I've plowed with for years. That truck had a 4.7, 4wd, 9.25" rear, etc like this one. I'm thinking the plow itself is not helping with airflow into the front because the radiator sits lower and is thinner really.

180 stat will not throw a CEL.

Efan write up in the FAQ section. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...dlyblueiz.html

Do not know about the Hemi radiator.

When does it overheat? While plowing? Idling? Just driving?

05 dakota 4.7 2wd here. 180 stat didnt throw a code. I put in a black magic extreme 180 fan and bought the soft start kit and threaded bung for thermostat. The fan shroud fit perfectly on all 4 sides. I also installed a manual override on/off switch mainly because i did t want to tap into a/c harness and didnt want the fan running full blast with a/c on highway.
