Default Service 4wd

Hey. I have an 05 4.7L 4x4 crew cab. A few months ago I had to replace my transfercase due to a crack. A couple of weeks later my service 4wd light came on, which wont let me switch in or out of 4wd. It comes on and goes off on its own. Any idea on what it could possibly be?
Thank You.

Who replaced the transfer case? Was it used? Rebuilt? New?

PLEASE, pull that fuse from the fuse box, heres the deal, when that light comes on, the transfer case switch is trying to put truck in 4 whl drive. not a good thing when doing 70 mph. this happen to me. so PLEASE pull that fuse. next, if they used the factory switch it may need replacing or a simple fluid change. but when that light comes up disaster could happen. also that switch runs on the same electrical circuit as the a/c this is how I found out, went to turn a/c on, bam truck went into limp mode, ser 4 light came on. truck was stuck in 4 hi. dealer had to replace switch and get truck back into 2 whl.so pull that fuse until you get it fixed
