Default 2008 4.7L exhaust leak

Well, it took a lot longer than my 05 did, but my 08 just sprung an exhaust leak last week *tick tick tick* Ugh! And I'm assuming it's a manifold stud, since the 4.7s are notorious for snapping those. Guess I'll call the dealership and see if that's covered under my lifetime powertrain warranty.

Also, I can't say whether its related or not, but I started having a bad hesitation around the same time. It does it both under acceleration and while just cruising at low rpm. Cruising at higher Rs doesn't seem to be an issue, unless/until I hit the throttle to accelerate. A mechanic buddy of mine says it could be just about anything, but that Dodges have a lot of problems with the fly by wire throttle that my truck has :/

how long has the hesitation been going on? we are now switching out of the winter blend gas to good gas, wonder if you got a bad batch some how. when was the last time you put hightest in and ripped it up and down the highway, might just need a good clean out, or a plug change

It just started a few days before I made this post. I changed uppers last year and the lower plugs aren't due for another 30,000+ miles. And I never put anything other than 87 octane in it, but she gets 'ripped' daily :P

I did dump a bottle of Lucas fuel system cleaner in it with the last fillup, so we'll see if that changes anything.

As far as the exhaust leak, I called the dealer and of course they said the possible broken stud isn't covered. Ugh

Yeah, a broken exhaust stud is not part of the powertrain.

I tried convincing the guy otherwise. An engine can't perform without a functional exhaust manifold :P
