Default confused
My 2007 Dakota door tag states it is built in Canada, while the vin starts with #1, indicating built in USA, any one know which is correct?

None of them were assembled in Canada. Parts made around the world.

#1 = USA, sorry Canada...


1st position of VIN, Possible choices are:
  • 1 = USA
  • 2 = Canada
  • 3 = Mexico

built (as in the where the parts are made) and assembled are two different things. the parts may be mostly made in mexico, where they put them together is a whole other story. The VIN code might just be where it's assembled.

Probably the door tag itself was printed in Canada.....
