Default EcoDiesel in a 2005 Dakota??

Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible or way too much effort to put a 3.0lt ecodiesel into a 2005 Dakota... quad cab... 4.7 v8?? Also ..has anyone ever conquered the brutal 12-14mpg consumption issue?

Gas is still cheap, so that 14 mpg really doesn't bother me. I'd love to have a diesel in the Dakota - and it can be done, but if the goal is to save money, I doubt it's cost effective.

There is a long thread by a guy in British Columbia, Canada, that has put a turbo diesel in a Dakota (not an EcoDiesel, but . . .). It was a lot of work by a skilled guy. Let us know how it goes, we all want pictures and video as you go through the process . . .

This will give you an idea of what you are in for...

12-14 is just below the normal for these trucks. I could squeeze 18-19 on a trip if I took it easy. Mainly keep it tuned up, tires inflated and don't drive it like you stole it.
