Default 2010 Dakota 3.7 air/fuel sensor issues.......need help :(

Hey guys, this is my last hope. I have had the cam position sensor replaced 3 times on this truck but the symptoms remain. here they are:

1. after ignition when shifting into drive and give gas it dies when cold, first starts of the morning. does not die when going into reverse.

2. engine dies at traffic lights sometimes if I dont shift it into neutral at the light.

3. engines revs high and will stay high at interstate speeds around 3000 rpms at 65 mph, it should normally kick up a gear and the rpms then lower, but it will not change to a better gear at higher speeds.

4. It will momentarily lose power at higher speeds then kick back in.

5. overall very sluggish.

6. smell of gas sometimes from running to rich or lean im assuming

These are the main things and they are worse in higher temps, truck was doing this last fall once it stayed cold most of the issues went away. The code it pulls is cam sensor but like I said I have changed 3 times and symptoms still there, anyone ever had these issues???????

Hi timothyn,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

What was the code? Usually there are a few causes for an error code.

Did you replace it with an OEM sensor or aftermarket sensor?

Also, these trucks start to do weird things when the Throttle Position Sensor is going bad, like improper revving and fuel metering. (I know you said it's a cam sensor code, but who knows.)
