Default Lower shock bolts 06 Dakota

Anyone else out there with front lower shock bolts that are rusted to the sleeve inside the bushings? Has anyone tried drilling the bolts out? Mine are stuck and I need to replace the coil overs and drilling out the bolts seems like it would be an easy task for any garage to tackle...that way I can replace the coil overs for much less than any garage would charge. I just don't have the tools to do the bolts.

Everyone with a 3rd gen has seized lower strut bolts......search a bit to find out what others have done. Personally, I took mine to a shop and let them deal with it when I replaced my struts. Worth paying the $100 or so for them to do it instead of me.

When I did my struts, the passenger side came out easy, driver side was rusted and siezed. I used lots of PB Blaster, a huge breaker bar, and lots of hammering with a big heavy hammer. It was a real pain, but it eventually came out.

I purchased a new bolt and bushing from RockAuto for about $18.00. The old bushing required a ball joint press to get out, and used the press to put in the new bushing as well. If your bolt is that seized up like mine, you might as well go ahead and be getting that bushing on the way.

Good luck!

Had a local shop do the bushings/bolts/nuts for $260. Now I can replace the coil overs instead of having the shop do it and save over $200.
