Default Upgrade Time!

Hey everyone,

First post here, I have a 2007 dakota 4.7 with 94K on it that is pretty much stock engine wise. I'm getting the exhaust done in the next week or so, but I am looking for suggestions to give it some more power.

Right now I'm looking at getting a throttle body from fastman:
https://www.thefastman.com/throttlebodies47.php

Then maybe a cold air intake (although I'm not sold on their actual performance increase) and a tuner.

Is there any other performance upgrades I could do to squeeze so more power out of this 4.7? also, what would be my best option for a tuner?

Welcome to the forum!

Superchips for the tuner. CAI is a good idea for a bigger TB. Don't expect much as far as gains with that though, but, combining mods does add some noticeable HP to the wheels. Here's a list of what I did to mine:

Superchips 3865 tuner (best bang for the buck mod you can do for these trucks)
Bored TB. (I went with Hipotek 68.5mm) Some people have had issues with the fastman throttle bodies.
E-fan conversion
K&N intake
Magnaflow exhaust (ditched the resonators)
Sonnax line pressure booster
180 T-stat

Couple other things I can't remember off the top of my head, but altogether, these produced butt dyno detectable increases in power.

I'll look into Hipotek thanks for the heads up, and when I flush the cooling system I'll do the 180 thermostat. More than likely I'll break down and buy a K&N CAI as well when I'm installing the TB.

Like what JKeaton said I would also swap out factory cats and y pipe lots of restriction there. 4.10 gears and a lsd will give you noticeable butt dyno results.

ok so here's what I've done so far:

-superchips 3845
-airaid modular intake tube
-new dual outlet exhaust from the y-pipe back
- I also took out the plastic stock grille inserts and replaced them with some powder coated mesh.

I'm running the superchips on the standard 87 tune, and I have noticed that the truck does drive, idle, and accelerate better. Having said that can anyone tell me how much better it runs on the 91 or towing tune?
