Hi this for my sons truck 2005 dakota 4x4 .when he got the truck it was stuck in 4x4 .i took a part transfer case it look ok .hooked the motor and tried switch in to 4hi it turned but kept going back to 2wd it would not stay in 4hi please help thanks transfer case #233

 

possibly the transfer case motor is shot, my truck would go into 4 wheel drive without turning the switch. scary doing 70 on the highway when it tried to engage. also check the wiring. possible might have a short.

 

Thanks no i put new motor and did the wire check ,do you know if it has to be reprogramed the computor.

 

should be plug and go.
