Programming new FOBs
I'm having a heck of a time trying to get new key fobs connected to my 05 Dakota V8. The truck does NOT have a factory alarm and does NOT have the SKIM system. I have one working remote and one broken one. I ordered two replacements and had them cut locally, all keys start and run the truck just fine. I have one working remote so this should be working I would think...
All keys look like this: http://www.anobviousdistraction.com/..._1_decoded.gif
The procedure as I understand it is this:
1) Insert the key and turn the ignition to "RUN" with doors closed and seatbelt on.
2) Hold "unlock" for 4-6 seconds and while holding "unlock", hold "panic" until a chime is heard (I get the chime)
3) On new remote, hold "lock" and "unlock" until chime is heard and then push "unlock" and another chime should sound. <-This never occurs, even if I try it with the working remote. I never get any chimes and therefore cannot get the new remotes programmed.
I can't get the confirmation chimes, nor do the new remotes work; after 30 seconds I get another chime indicating programming mode is closed and I'd try again. I've tried for hours. I can get into programming mode but nothing responds afterward.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I doing this procedure wrong?
Thanks

Sorry, as a "Safety Feature" you can't reprogram with only one working remote. Imagine someone finds your lost remote and wants your truck.
You need to take it either to a stealership, or find a service in your area (I used Mr. Remotes, near me). They plug in to your computer and use secrete ones and zeros to reprogram your new remotes. Charged me 20 Canuck Pesos to program two new remotes.

Is that right for vehicles WITHOUT a transponder/Sentry key/chipped key? My truck absolutely does NOT have the Sentry key setup, any properly cut key that fits in the ignition will start and run the truck.
All info. I have come across via research has outlined the following:
Vehicles WITH Sentry key setups require two keys to program new ones. The procedure involves putting key 1 into the ignition, then key 2, then the new one.
Vehicles WITHOUT Sentry key that need remotes programmed can do so at home as long as one, working, programmed remote exists. Even the procedure (as I outlined in the OP) doesn't even mention a second remote.
What exactly is correct in this instance?
I was thinking maybe the issue lies in the fact I may have bought new keys WITH transponders (even though my truck doesn't have it & #'s matched from old to new) and I should have looked for 2004-2007 NON-Transponder keys although if the truck doesn't have it I'm not sure why it would matter so much. I returned the other keys and bought ones that specifically say "non-transponder" but they'll take a couple days to get here. I don't mind having them programmed elsewhere if I have to but I'd rather not if I can help it.
