Default 2008 Dodge Dakota only works at certain speeds

I have a 2008 Dodge Dakota and the Cruise control only works at 30, 50, and 70 mph. It holds fine at those speeds but you cannot lock it at any other speed or accel/decell to any other speed. I replaced the clock spring. I have access to a Snap-on scanner and checked for any codes. Could not find any. I'm at a loss. Spoke to a Dodge tech and he told me to change cruise fuse(#24 under hood 20amp), clamp both battery cables together for 15 min not touching battery, and make sure brake lights are working good. All these things made no difference. Any advise is much appreciated.

Does the truck have a tune on it or anyone use a tune to try to adjust the speedometer by a software adjustment to tire size or gear ratio.

I've seen the same issue on the Ram 1500 if the tire size or gear ratio is altered in the tune. The ring gear speed sensor and the transmission output shaft speed sensor may no longer send the speed signal the computer is expecting and messes up the cruise control.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if it has a tune but there is nothing visible and it has stock size all season tires on it.

The possibly the ring gear speed sensor or trans output shaft speed sensor itself is beginning to fail. The trans sensor may or may not set a code since it isn't an engine fault.

I am going to give that a try then! I ordered the sensor and will put in this weekend. Thank you for the advise. I will post if it works.
