Hello all,


I have started looking into swapping the new dash pieces from the 2008+ dodge dakota's into my 06. The main reason behind this would be for the double din radio slot.

from what i can tell i would need the instrument cluster, and instrument panel center.

Has anyone done this on their Dakota? Is this even possible, or is the frame under the dash a different design as well. Any tips?

Here is the current dash(though i am getting a new radio bezel so it won't look so shoddy).

I have an android tablet in there, and the current 1.5 DIN is just a little shy of the tablet. Not as much as the orginal tablet i had in there, but still about a half an inch+

 

Just looking at the pictures of an 06 and 08 dash side by side, they don't look that alike. The lower dash cover is probably different, and the right side of the radio bezel has an angle to it, so the right side of the dash would probably need to be changed. Basically a whole dash swap, and that is, if the mounts are exactly the same, which is possible.

 

Figured i was going to have to get the entire dash, unless i want to cut mine up more lol. Though i imagine it would be best to get everything.
My main concern would the mounting points. I don't suppose there is anything online that would show me what the the truck looks like under the dash? Short of asking someone with an 08 or newer.

 

I bought the Tech Authority 2011 Dakota Service Information Manual on DVD. I just went through the dash removal section and it shows the same pictures as the 2005 FSM that is available all over. That is as best as I can help you. Good Luck.
