Default Rough running and white smoke.

A issue started today with my 05 V6 Dakota. Engine will not take gas and lots of white smoke from the exhaust. Got a misfire cylinder #5 code. Could be a plug or coil but suspect something more sinister do to the smoke. Thinking head gasket but checked the oil for water and the coolant for signs of oil and see nothing.
Any one have any opinions on what I should look for?
Thanks

Yes,coolant could be leaking into the combustion chamber and out the exhaust valve in the form of steam.Exhaust gasses are likely present in the coolant by the possible formation of bubbles that may keep appearing on the surface with the cap removed and an exhaust smell present. There is a dye that can be poured into the coolant that detects hydrocarbons from the presence of exhaust in the coolant to determine head gasket leaks.Usually available at most well stocked auto parts stores.
