Default Timing cover gasket

I'm replacing the timing cover gasket on my 2005 Dakota 4.7 and it's weird because most places tell you to use the little O-ring kit and silicone around the cover, but for 2003 prior models they used a full metal gasket all around. I've researched a lot on this and most people say it's OK to use the Fel-Pro TCS-46000 full metal gasket on the newer models as well. They say there are no problems and works better than the O-ring kit and silicone. Does anybody out there have any info on this? Has anyone used the old style gasket on the newer models and if so any problems/ Thanks for all your help.
