2005 Dodge Dakota Key Sentry problem
Okay so got this Dakota from an online retailer back in 2011
Lot's of problems with it but that's beside the point. When I got the truck it only came with 1 transponder key.
I've had issues with it a couple of times (like if I left it in a pants pocket and went through the wash). It would do the old "run for 2 seconds then shutoff and lock you out after a few attempts" Would always start working after I opened transponder up and dried it out.
Well now I went out to start truck after sitting for about 3 months. Started right up but did the die thing after a couple of seconds. At first I thought it was just because it had been sitting so tried a few times...locked out.
So now I sit with a truck that won't start and no working transponder key. Talked to dealer and their only solution is to tow it in and pay them to blah, blah, blah. I really don't want to drop $500 or more on this seldom used truck.
Any ideas out there??? There has got to be some way to disable this security feature!!!
Thanks in advance

If there was a way to disable this "security feature" it wouldn't be a "security feature". You need the proper code reader/dealer computer. Some locksmiths have the codes as do some independent service centres and some aftermarket sellers of remotes.
