Default Skid plate

Forgot to mention, if you have factory skid plates and you install the differential drop you have to modify it or it will point downward. I had to cut the ribs on top of the plate in order to bend it up. Also the front two mounting holes have to be elongated forward. Not the perfect situation but it works to maintain the skid plate.

Why did you lower the differential?

The differential is lowered to realign the CV Axels when you lift the truck. I have another thread with pictures of my truck with a two inch lift if you want to see it.

Okay...makes sense. I didn't realize that lifting the truck required dropping the differential. Mine is still stock.

Curious...if you lift the truck to put on larger tires, it gives a little more ground clearance. If you have to drop the differential, you lose some ground clearance. Is the gain from the larger tires enough to offset the loss from dropping the differential?

Not sure what the ground clearance was before but it's about ten inches now. But I think it's worth it.
