Brake Caliper Keeps Seizing
Hey there,
I've got a 2007 4x4 Dakota with 150,000 miles on it. I continue to have issues with my front passenger side brake caliper seizing. The caliper has been replaced twice in the past two years, and the brake line was replaced with it on the last fix. A little over a year later, that same side is seizing again, and I have no idea what else could be causing this issue. The truck is only equipped with 2 wheel abs, so I doubt that is an issue. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

You have to make sure you have a very liberal amount of silicone paste on several of the brake components. Also have them check the valves in the abs system. Abs will be on the front wheels because the majority of braking is done on the front wheels.
Brakes require servicing roughly every 4 months to keep linkages and slide pins clean, free moving, and lubricated. Brakes are not looked at only when there is a problem or it is time for new pads or rotors or callipers. They need attention a couple of times per year to keep them operating properly, optimally, and get the longest use out of the components.
