Found some black residue burning off of my exhaust today and realized black liquid was at the bottom of my bell housing. I’m thinking the rear main seal is probably bad and needs replaced. Anyone ever done one before and have some insight/advice?

 

Drop the trans. Best to take it to a shop unless you have the appropriate tools.

 

Not something I would attempt if you are inexperienced. You really need a lift for this. Makes it a lot easier than laying on your back under the vehicle.
