Default 07 Dakota tranny

Does my truck need to be reprogrammed if I replace the 545rfe tranny with the same kind. 2007 Dakota 4x4.

No reprogramming, but the FSM says you need a Quick Learn for the PCM. No clue what the current cost is on one of those.

as you'll have the battery disconnected while doing the repair, the PCM will do a relearn regardless when you plug everything back together.

So, replacing your transmission with another of identical model will be plug and play. The PCM will learn the new tranny just as it would if you disconnected your battery overnight and started again from scratch.

Had my 545 replaced with a Jasper reman. The old one had been showing signs of delayed shifts and temp light from the time I bought the truck. A year later it wouldn't shift right unless I let the truck warm up first then it lost it's clutches on me in traffic. The first Jasper trans went bad in less than a month so the shop put another one in and the damn temp light came on again a day later. The mechanic hinted at thinking my computer might be bad but wasn't sure.

I drove it straight home and parked it till a re manufactured computer showed up that I ordered the night I drove it back from the shop.

One year later and not a problem since.
