Default 2006 Dakota 4x4 with 2.5” supreme suspension level issue

Hey All,
Been looking on the forums and couldn’t find my exact issue. I have a 2006 dakota 4x4 with a 2.5” Supreme Suspension leveling kit installed in the front and 1.5” installed in the rear. However, in the front my upper control arms are only 1/8” away from my springs at rest and have been hitting. Of course, Supreme Suspensions doesn’t advertise this issue. I can’t find after market extended upper control arms for our trucks. Any suggestions on what to do? Please help!

with anything that you modify there are drawbacks. Forcing the spring to push down on the lower control arm will make the upper control arm swing lower then normal, that is how these kits work. Unfortunately, unless you custom fab your own upper and lower control arms you will have this.

A 2" kit would not be as bad but still there. a 3" kit would be worse.

The lower control arm alignment could be closer inboard on your truck causing the spring to be closer to the upper compared to others, but changing this will cause driving issues. Have you had an alignment after the kit was installed?

You might have no choice but to keep it this way, or replace with a smaller leveling kit.

I just went and checked my front end for a comparison of 'with and without' lift kit, me being the latter and I got to say I have a bunch of room in that area. That being said I had a similar problem with my Rancho strut replacement. I used a 'Moog' spring and 'Monroe' strut mount. These 3 components together did not work while building the strut assembly and here's why ...

Firstly the 'Moog" spring had an extra coil making it taller than the stock spring, the 'Monroe' strut mount wasn't quite compatible with the 'Moog' spring end tail causing the direction of the strut assembly to point in a slightly different angle, this caused the bottom pinch bolt to not line up correctly. I physically had to pull the bottom of the strut into position. After lowering the truck back onto the ground the struts had developed an arc or bend and I think this may be your problem.

Secondly make sure you loosen off the control arm bolts then lower the truck under it's own weight and then tighten bolts.
