New muffler for '06 4.7
Greetings all.
I'm looking into getting a new muffler for my 2006 Dakota SLT with the 4.7 Magnum. I like how quiet the current muffler is but I want something that makes a little noise when I get on it. Does anybody think there's a muffler out there that doesn't drone or make too much noise while driving normally (under 2k RPM) but can clear its throat over that? Thanks for your help!

Magnaflow 14”. Leave the upstream resonator, remove the downstream resonator behind the axle.
OR - if your current is single pipe with cats up front, two resonators, and the muffler .... then give serious consideration to the simple muffler delete. Take the muffler out and replace that mid-section with straight pipe. Leave the resonator at the front and the resonator behind the rear axle. Those are important as they eliminate resonant drone frequencies. This is a really easy and cost saving option. Short straight pipe and two 20 deg elbows. The result is quite a nice low rumble sound and not loud at all, surprisingly good way to go for the 4.7 Magnum

First off, I'd get underneath and see how well the system is holding up. Chances are replacing just the muffler will be temporary, just like I found out. First I installed a Magnaflow 12256 muffler with a nice Magnaflow tip, and removed both resonators, yes, there were two resonators. With the Magnaflow muffler, it did sound damn good when I got on it, but it was sometimes a little noisy cruising arount 70-75. 5 years later and I noticed parts of the original exhaust system starting to rust away, so it was time for a Cat Back system, and I found one from Borla that I could not ignore. And it sounds better every time I drive it...
