Default Anyone else have this problem?

My service 4 wheel drive light came on and started switching from 2 to 4 wheel drive so I got it back into 2 wheel drive and pulled the fuse. I thought that would temporarily solve the problem and it did. The light went out now it has decided to come on and off at random times. Does anyone know what the heck is going on with it now and since I pulled the tcase fuse can it shift into 4 wheel drive by itself now. Thank you everyone for all the help you have given me.

Besides the common runaway t/c shift motor you may also likely have an issue with the crappy TIPM these trucks use. There is a PCM attached to the firewall end of it and it is not uncommon for corrosion to develop on the contact terminals and connectors to it,or a bad PCM or bad TIPM or even a corroded wire going to it.

It will not shift itself without the fuse. I have been running mine for three years without the fuse.

You also don't have 4wd.Need to find the source of the trouble.Start by having the PCM and TIPM tested and if required, repaired or replaced.Remove and inspect the shift motor and test that.If not, move onto the wiring connectors and terminals for corrosion, dirt, burnt or bad wires.
