Rusty Shackles
One for the books, at least for me, a rusted through spring shackle on a 2006. WTF? I have a Jeep that's 21 years old with no such issue.
I had noted the truck was sagging a tad, and had decided to install new heavier springs, seeing as I frequently load the hell out of it.
Trying to remove the shackles, the bolts are seized in the steel bushing centre making me cut them out. Finally get the spring assembly down, only to discover I can SEE THROUGH the shackle.
Anyway, check your shackles. Would not have been a nice surprise hauling the ATV to camp next week, to have a shackle let go.
Ordered new, won't be here until next Thursday, we leave Friday... This will be a tight, or all night session.

Yeah,I did a set of those 6 mos ago on my brother-in-law's '07 dakota.Dorman makes a nice shackle kit.The bushing may seize to the eye of the spring so we had to heat it up some and cut the rest out.Pressed a new Moog bushing in with a ball joint press. Then we installed a new set of KYB gas-a-just shocks. It rides very nice now.
update
New 5 leaf set up, with new shackles is awesome. Should have done it years ago. ATV doesn't make the truck wallow in the corners now, and no bottoming. Going to have to adjust the headlights though. High beams are where lows should be at least when empty.
