Question Swapping NV244 transfer case to an NV233

Good day to all. I'm a owner of an automatic 2005 AWD Dakota as well as a parted out 2003 4wd automatic Dakota.

Since the electrically controlled NV244 transfer case of the 2005 is cracked, I was thinking of simply installing the electrically controlled NV233 case from the 2003 Dakota.

Has a 2008 forum post stated, it is doable... It even sounded dummy proof but the devil is in the details.

I am able to bolt the NV233 case but the the NV244 required only one connector to its actuator and the NV233 has two connectors slots with neither even having the same pin numbers.

Anybody have know what needs to be done to connect and control the bugger?

I know at least a couple of forum members have simply swapped in the 233 in place of the 244 TC, and I don't remember any connector issues. They were a swap of the same generation (05+) of Dakota, so maybe the connectors were changed in 2005?

Looks like you might be SOL. Rock shows that the 2005+ TCs have a different motor than the pre-05's. Different connector, and different rotating spindle on the motor as well.

It could be as simple as taking the shift sector out of the 244, and putting it in the 233, and taking the motor from the 244. I have no idea if those 2 are compatible though.
