Bought first Dakota in fall for daughter to drive. Before I close the tail gate I have to flip the small toggles next to the gate latches on left and right side to get gate to stay latched up.
what are there toggles for and why does gate not automatically stay latched when closed?

Those latches look a little nasty. Might be a simple clean and lube thats required. Honestly never noticed those toggles before. I'm sure someone else will chime in.
