Default Raise Front Seats?

2011 Dakota SLT 4x4 Crew Cab. I want to raise the driver seat about 2" or 3" and am wondering if there is a specific kit I can get for it or should I just go to the local HDW Store and pick up some metal spacers. Or is this a bad idea all around. Anyone with experience on this, what did you do? Sorry but am new to these vehicles and would appreciate any information. Thanks, Jeff.

P.S. Tried the seat cushion route and that blows snot!

Some of those bolts are installed at an angle, so I don't think just washers would do it. Of course, that's before you start asking questions like how that will change the results of, say, an airbag deployment or something of that nature.

It can probably be done, but I dont think it's as simple as the question sounds.

If you have to raise the seats that much, are you able to reach the steering wheel and pedals?

The front bolts go in horizontally into a floor cross-support and the rear bolts go directly into the floor. There are also seat weight sensors on the seats that should be handled carefully.

I fit the seat great but I have to raise my left arm too high to rest it on the door panel window opening. Right now I am resting my arm on the interior pad that has the window/door lock controls. Guess I'll have to go without my favorite place for my arm while driving (hanging half way out the window). Thanks for the information folks and appreciate the illustration also!

I'll just drive my Jeep Wrangler more often.

Yep. If you look at cars and trucks in general, the window "belt lines" are much higher than they once were. It's part of the "safety containment" features.
