Help! I just purchased a 2008 Dodge Dakota SXT 4x4 and it has an issue with the 4x4. The previous owner said the 4x4 works but it started to randomly kick into 4x4 mode when driving in a parking lot etc. So he removed the 4x4 fuse. The 4x4 maintenance required light flashes on the dashboard randomly.

I am hopeful someone has run into this issue and knows what the solution is?

 

Common fault. Transfer Case Motor.

 

We're dealing with a similar issue. Ours exits out of 4x4 mode and reverts back to 2wd...all while flashing the service lights.
