Default 2006 4.7L v8, P0344

Hi All,
I have an 06 Dakota with the P0344 code “Camshaft position sensor circuit intermittent”. I’ve got all the basic problems associated with said code: will crank but not start, loud rattle, stalling, etc. I just replaced both the crank and the cam sensors (don’t know if they’re OEM though, probably not). My game plan is check the connections with a voltage meter, then checking the wiring, then taking the sensors out to see if they’re some bad brand like Napa or something. After that, maybe it’s a bad battery, but otherwise I’m at a loss. Wondering if anyone here has any helpful info before I go tearing my truck up. Thanks all.

I would start with the FSM. Looks like you need page 9-387. All of it looks beyond my skills and toolsets, but you might look at it before tearing up the engine.

One of the stickies in the forum will take you to the 2005 FSM.

Make sure both of those sensors are OEM Mopar sensors.

Not sure? I'd replace them again.

Unless you see it come out of the Mopar bag yourself, you'd have to ask your mechanic. I'm not sure of the part markings off hand.

Or for a low cost test get the used ones off a engine like yours an try it , those are usually oem.But for the cost its worth a try.
Also look online at oem pics of it to compare to an the markings to see.,should be a mopar identification on it ..
Hope that helps
