Default Couple of Questions

I'm the proud new owner of a 05 Dak Quad Cab. I love it.

Been looking at different upgrades. I'd like a CAI. What is the huge differences in teh ones on ebay vs some of the others.

Second, looking for sub boxes. I haven't found much in the way of options yet for the 05. I have a JL 12" and 3 JL 8" subs but I'd be willing to buy 10's if that would work. I just haven't found much for them yet. Anyone able to point me in a direction?

Shane

Congrats on the new truck. snobdrdan put an MTX Proform box w/a JL 10" behind the seat. Look at the thread "STEREO". He has pics of the install. Another guy in a thread a couple months back posted a link to a guy w/a 2002 who put an S8L5 in a small sealed box between the center console and the back seats w/amp mounted behind rear seats. Any sub/box that goes behind the seats has to be a shallow mount as there aint much room to work with. Try to come up w/something and install it yourself. Otherwise you are pretty much talking custom install work which=$$$. Lots of info on CAI's here.
Good luck and welcome aboard.

Spend the money on a decent CAI

The ones on ebay don't have heat shields and are just gonna SUCK in hot air & rob you of performance since they don't have heatshields.

Check out the AirRaid or K&N intakes:

Both add about 9hp to the wheels!

As for a stereo....I went with the MTX Thunderform for the Quad Cab. It says it doesn't fit the 2005-2006's, but I bought one and tried it out. Low and behold, it fit!
Then I upgraded the crappy MTX 10" sub to a JL Audio 10W1v2 sub.
The only drawback to this setup is that you can't flip up the bottom of the 40 part of the 60/40 rear seat (because the sub is behind the top part of the seat).
BUT you don't lose any space and people can still sit there....it's totally stealthy. And then I hid the amp underneath the bottom part of the rear seat. All the pics are posted in the post titled "Stereo"

You would never know it's there until you heard it or I told you it was back there....that's the best part.

Cost me less than $400 total.
Thunderform was $250 from Crutchfield (had a $50 off coupon)
JL Sub was $80
Amp was $60
And I had all the wiring

hope that helps
