Default Extended crank times when cold

Mechanic says it might be the fuel pump going bad but is not sure. One way to test it would be to let the fuel pump prime one time before starting. For example, I would turn the key to the on position, wait a few seconds, then turn it off and try to start. What else could cause extended crank times? Is the fuel filter easy to replace on these vehicles?

There is no fuel filter to replace, the fuel pump, inside the tank, has a strainer on it.

If it sounds like it's trying to turnover but just not quite catching, it might be the battery. Have it tested; you might need a new one.

I tried the priming and it didn't work. I still get extended crank. I think the battery is relatively new. Does anyone have any other thoughts/
