I have a 2005 Dakota with the 4.7L Magnum. It's had a very slow oil burn for as long as I've had it but lately it's gotten worse. It's still far from the worst I've heard of, about a quart, maybe two if I push it between oil changes. Still worth being a daily driver, but it's got me concerned about the future. How much does a rebuilt usual run on this engine? Is there a common reason these engines will burn oil that may be cheaper to look into and fix?
