Default 10 Dakota Bighorn Lighting upgrade

Currently my bighorn model has the standard headlight/fog light/running light selection **** and no auto headlight modules, I was wondering if its possible for me to implement the system with little issue (ie it being "plug and play") or would I have to go through the hassle of adding tons of wiring throughout the vehicle? Also is there a place I could get a new system from or do i have to go lookin through junk yards/ebay?

Please n thanks

There is no simple plug & play option. There have been many threads asking the same question, and nobody seems to have installed auto lighting, at least I can't recall any.

Welcome aboard.

This is something that you would need to 1) install hardware and 2) update the truck's programming. I'm not aware of Mopar offering an upgrade kit to do this; so, you would have buy the parts individually and then install them. I'm not aware of anyone that has done this. But, my guess would be that you would need to...

- Replace the control switch. It goes in the same spot as the "non-automatic" switch. So, I assume it uses the same wiring. (don't know that for sure, though)
- Add the light sensor to the dash. I assume that your truck didn't come with the light sensor and I don't know if the wiring is already tucked into the dash. It might be just to speed things along on the assembly line. I also don't know if the dash already has a punch-out for the sensor. If not, you have to either buy a replacement dash or cut out a spot yourself.
- Reprogram the truck's computer to recognize the automatic headlights. There is a setting for this AlfaOBD. But, I don't know if that setting can be changed on the Dakotas. I've never heard of anyone trying it. And, I know from experience that not all settings available on AlfaOBD can actually be changed on the Dakota. (I've tried the "global down" without success.)

Good luck. Let us know if it works, assuming that you try.
