3rd gen Dakota will not go and drive it just revs and moves slow will go in reverse
Hello there my third gen Dodge Dakota took a crap on yesterday when I got home from work ( I am a pool man as you can see from my user name so I've put 42,000 miles last year) backing into the driveway . As I backed up it hit the hump of the curb and rolled forward a bit so I stepped on the gas a little bit harder so I could go over the hump of the street to my driveway and when I got up a big cloud of smoke came out so I thought I had peeled out. I tried to pull forward a bit and wouldn't go forward. Then I ended up putting it in neutral and it would go in reverse and drive would feel like it had the brakes on so I did a transmission fluid flush and filter change and tried to see if it would go into drive and what it does is it feels like it's stuck in reverse and being put into drive fluid level is at where it's supposed to be my truck overheated last week because of my reservoir having a cracked bottom and running empty but I got it fixed the tranny fluid smelled burned and was very dark so all in all it won't go forward but will go in reverse neutral sometimes works sometimes it's in reverse while in neutral
