Yeah definitely stick with Mopar for something like that

"Should" be a plug & play setup since it's coming from the people who built the truck

Just did it on my 05 Dakota.............Part # 82209241 1-800- 428-0517 Moparpart.com Lakeland, Fl
$206.25 plus shipping kit includes steering wheel switches (oem) and cruise servo unit & cable, screws.
Takes about 1/2 hr to put parts on, real easy............then you have to have the dealer turn it on with the starscan.
It is a original Mopar kit and works perfect!

I don't suppose you happen to know if it's only the later models that you have to have the dealership turn that function on do you? I have a 99 that I installed factory cruise on, and it won't work. I made an appt. and took it to the dealer, but basically they didn't know what I was talking about. They said if it was an 05 or something they could understand cause the computers were more sophisticated in the later models. They hooked up the DRB tool and said that the computer isn't getting the signal from the switch, so it would take them awhile to track it down if that's what I wanted. I told them no, leave it that way for now. So I went home and got my multi-meter and started testing the switches, then the clockspring, then hooked it back up and tested at the connector on the computer. It's getting signal at the connector. Which tells me the computer does need a flash or something.

Another thing I've heard that can give you fits is the brake light switch. I tested mine with a test light and the fused wire is always hot, and the brake light output is hot when you hit the brake, but that's all I get. There's also a brake sense output that goes from the switch to the computer. Is it possible the brake lights work fine, but the switch is sending a signal to the ecm that the brakes are on and not allowing the cruise to even turn on? Is there a way I can test that wire to see if it's sending a signal? I checked it with my test light but there's nothing there with the brakes on or off.

Thanks for any help.
