What is it?
I am in the process of installing a Tekonsha Prodigy in my new 2006 Dak QC and my questions are 2 fold if someone can provide some guidance.
First:
There is an area below the fan/temp selectors that is recessed and has a power outlet and some kinda plastic box to the left of the outlet. What is this box used for?
I am thinking about mounting the brake controller to the top flat surface below the fan switch but this will restrict access to that little box. I will still have access to the power outlet since it will be used to power a Garmin GPS. If I block access to the box, what am I losing?
Second:
If I drill into this area discussed above so I can use sheet metal screws to mount the Prodigy, am I running a risk in damaging the fan switch or wiring? I can not access behind/above this area without taking the dash apart.
Mounting to the area beside the steering column is also an option, however the steering wheel does block the view of the Prodigy. This is an easier fix and perhaps once the Prodigy is configured for the trailer brakes it may be of lessor importance to constantly monitor it.
So, if there are some of you who have some experience in the area, I would appreciate a few comments. Wiring is not an issue - its all plug and play. Nicely done by both Dodge and Tekonsha.
Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

Well I would like to thank everyone who replied to these questions but more importantly I want to thank Frenchy for providing the solution.
The Club Cab has a passenger air-bag on-off switch located in this area. The Quad Cab does not. See Frenchy's thread - first message - second photo.

It is the switch shown in the photo just to the left of the shifter ****.
Since the QC does not have this switch, then I am safe to use the area in front of it.
The Dodge brochure and the dealer have confirmed this.
