Default Rear Axle

Where is the measurement taken to determine the size of the rear axle?

The reason I am asking the above question is because my dealer told me I couldn't get the TSB work done on my Dak becuase my rear axle size was 9 1/4 and the TSB calls for the work to only be done on 8 1/4. I have done a little research and can't find an 9 1/4 rear axle option anywhere!

If they could do the work they would, otherwise theyd just be turning down money.

Yes, it is shaped like a stop sign. If the measurement is taken from where it begins to flatten out on the cover, than it is a 9 1/4. But, while I was under there, I noticed the rear diff is leaking up near where the drive shaft goes in!

I've taken my truck back 7 or 8 times now and the dealer is 60 miles away!

Everytime you do warranty work and deal with the same complaint big flags go off for duplicate repairs, its the bane of the service industry.

And its not there fault your 60miles away =)
