Default Seats/Headrests

My mom just bought an 06 v6 quad cab. In fact, we don't even have it yet as they had to get it from another dealer and are putting a tool box on it tomorrow. Anyways, the seats on these trucks are pretty hard. Any ideas on simple seat swats from maybe previous years, rams, or other vehicles?

Also, and the main thing, my mom has some neck problems. The head rests are crazy on the dakota, sorta sticking out instead of being flat. It won't work good for her. We told the dealer to see if they can remove them, flip them around, or get some from another truck or something. Any ideas here if the dealer doesn't find a good solution?

I hope this dakota is a good truck. She was going to get a used colorado, was gonna pay cash (civic trade-in would pay almost all of it) and be done. But we went to the dodge dealer based on what I found on the internet recommending a dakota or tacoma over the colorado. She didn't like tacomas so we headed to the dodge dealer. She had just got done paying her 02 civic off, so now she has another 5 years of paying on a truck (though 5 years at 0% is pretty good). We're just hoping this was the right choice. Certainly seems like a decent truck now.

By the way, it's atlantic blue. Pretty nice but we wanted inferno red (one of the best looking stock paint colors ever), unfortunately that cost more.

I though the seats we a little hard also with the cloth. So I got leather in my 06 Dakota and is much more comfortable. The head rest seems to be out of the way to me, kinda back far enough that it doesn't touch the head unless you put your head back. Maybe try the leather, it's more costly, but to me was worth it.

I have an '05 V6 Quad Cab and I didn't care for the seats when I first purchased it. I didn't think they were too hard, but the leg support did not seem as good as it should. However, after a month of ownership, the seats now seem very comfortable. Having driven mainly cars in the past, one thing I can say about the seats in the Dakota is that they are big. I am a person of larger stature, so this suits me well.

I think you made a good choice between the Colorado, Tacoma and the Dakota. I checked all of them out and the Dodge seemed to be the best buy. Chevrolet has to do something about the interior quality of the Colorado. Toyota is just too dang expensive for me.

Good luck with the new truck. I think you will find the V6 to have plenty of power.

My mom doesn't like leather unfortunately.

I might look at previous year model seats. The main thing is the head rests. She had them turn them around, but of course doing that now offers almost no head support at all.

It's a really nice truck and so far she seems to really like it. I know how everyone loves hondas, but her 02 civic lx was just so basic and almost cheap. I had to replace its front speakers because they were going out under the normal use of a 50+ year old woman. It had an alignment problem soon after she bought it and we had to get new tires. The coolant was low a week after she bought it and the suspension clunks sometimes during turns. It only has 21k miles. Just really not that good of a car, maybe reliable, but anything will be with good maintenance and being driven just 5k miles a year. I'm just happy she got rid of it.

Thanks for all the replies. Any more ideas are appreciated. I'll let ya'll know what we end up doing about the headrests.

for a 6' guy the headreasts are just about perfect for me. Just have to adjust the angle of the seat back. And really they are desinged as a better head restraint not for comfort, although by reversing them i dunno what that might do in an accident...
Getting one of those plane pillows (thing fits around your neck) may help her (it did for my mom who drove 5-6 hrs a day in her taurus) but it does look a little silly.

Kinda liked the seats and headrests myself.

However, I did manage to break the Lumbar Support ****. I prefer the levers because you only get three positions. With the ****, I always thought that I could crank it a "little more".

Well off to the dealer to see how much they are gonna rape me.

My mom likes to sit up on the steering wheel, so no adjusting the seat back. I realize the safety aspect of the headrest, but they HAVE to be comfortable. The plane pillow (she already has one) is an idea if nothing else works out.
