The 5.9 is gone from production vehicles. I don't think it could meet emissions standards. And fuel economy is about to become a bit more important with the new rules NHTSA just published.

im not realy sure if i like the new dakota r/t. one thing i dont understand is why they did not take the 5.9 and give it a H.O cam.....im not ragin on the 4.7 but the R/T is fam for having a big *** V8. to me it seams like they down graded the engine. i think they would sell more if they had the 5.9 H.O insted of the 4.7 H.O cuz lets face it, if you buy a R/T dakota you could care less about gas milage. you buy an R/T to smoke the **** out of the ***s drivin hondas, that think they cool with thier gay fart cannons (i dont like ricers). now if chrysler realy wanted to upgrade the dakota R/T , they would drop a HEMI in it.

Im sorry if i affended anyone with this comment -"you buy an R/T to smoke the **** out of the ***s drivin hondas, that think they cool with thier gay fart cannons"

wtf are you talking about, i kill hondas daily and all i have is a 4.7...hell even when i was bone stock i killed them...

dont get me wrong...if i could put any engine in my truck it would be the 4.7.....all im sayin is i dont understand why they would put a smaller engine in the R/T...coudnt they take the 5.9 and give it a H.O cam and have more horsepower then the 4.7 h.o

The extra HP that the H.O. 4.7L gained is really offset by the increase of weight on the total vehicle. I'd be willing to bet most 2nd Gen model V8's, regardless of the 4.7L/5.9L would indeed beat them head 2 head in a stock vs. stock race. Even if they lost, it would NOT be by much at all.

My 4.7L Clubcab was very quick for a Dakota. I had run against a few R/T's and wasnt losing by much at all....

Wait for about 2 years when the finish on the dark gray goes to **** and the only way to keep it looking decent is 6 coats of armor all a day =)

See early 00 jeep cherokee side trim
There are people who wash's there truck(s) right after NEVER,& of course it gets dried out and looking a lil haggared.
I on the other hand will not allow it.Example my wife has an 2000 Minin van with the same color front & rear bumpers & guess what they look the same way as the day we took it home.
It's called preventitive maintenance.

Ahh yes, but what you forget is you dont control the weather....therefore where you live and where your truck/van/car parks plays as much a factor on it as you doing preventive maintenance. While you are correct in that taking proper care of your car will help to make it look better longer, he's ALSO right that it can and possibly will fade over time based on factors you cant control.
