Default Bad wheel bearing anybody???

So yeah after I got my 4.10 gears & Posi put in about 1.5 months ago....I heard a weird noise. I was like great....now the gears are all messed up/too loud & I gotta pay to get my stock ones put back in.

2 weeks go by & then I took it back to the shop that put in the gears and he drives it and tells me it's a bad wheel bearing up front. With only 4,000 miles on the truck he was saying I had a bad wheel bearing on the Passenger Front side.

Took it to the Dodge dealer right after that......they say they can't confirm it. The tech says he doesn't hear anything. I go for a ride with him and he swears it's not a wheel bearing noise & that he can barely hear anything.
Then I get the service write to take a ride with me too and he says that it's really really really faint and that I should "drive it until it gets worse."
I could hear the noise OVER my radio....so I don't how they couldn't hear it.
But because I used to work at this dealer....I told the Service Manager how the shop said it was probably a bad wheel bearing and they ended up ordering me one anyways.

So then the noise has gotten progressively worse & really loud. I went to the dealer this past week to check on the part because they never called me about it.....it had been over 3 weeks since the truck was in there & they ordered it. They call on it and find out it's on NATIONAL BACKORDER until May 1st and there are 76 orders open for these wheel bearings or something stupid.

SO yeah....really pisses me off. It's REALLY loud up front now and everytime you make a turn it's making weird noises.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

yea.

it was coming from my back left tire

noise started the day i drove it home from dealership... i thought it was nothing and will go away after a few miles... day by day the noise has gotten louder... sorta sounded like an unbalanced/flat/vibrating noise without actual vibration. when i took it back they said my bearing was leaking and they replaced/fixed it.

i bought my dakota at a Carmax dealership. not sure if its everywhere but the one in my area, right next to their used lot they have a chrysler-jeep-dodge dealership. the people at carmax are really helpful and dont feed u crap.

if u have a dodge dealership run my carmax in ur area... u should try bringing ur truck there for a 2nd opinion

I didn't think it was gonna be a common thing, but thought I'd ask. Basically just wanted to rant a about it.

Something like a wheel bearing is just a bad luck kind of thing.....not every truck will have it obviously.....just like 1 in a 100,000 thing probably

Well I was the lucky customer that got that one I guess...lol

Have a similar problem, kind of a grinding noise in front end while turning. Can't get it to recreate for dealer and they are feeding me the same line, its normal but if it gets worse bring it back. Will push to have wheel bearings checked next time to see what they find.

UPDATE:

FINALLY got the wheel bearing replaced last week!!!
Noise is gone and I feel better.

Now I have to listen to the (small) noise of the 4.10 gears in the back!
