OEM Towing package 05 DAK 4.7 Quad Cab
Drakkon,
I was a bit miffed by this too. I tried unsuccessfully to drill these holes. It requires a 5/8" drill bit which is just over $15 at Home Depot. It drilled one hole partially and then went totally dull. I had to have UHaul finish the install for me. If I had to do it again, I'd pay the extra couple of dollars and have it all done at once.
Get out there and get camping. We have a 14' tent trailer and love it.

I think I'm gonna throw in the towel and bring it to Uhaul or somebody. New is always better!

I don't wanna scare you but theres alot of people who don't care about there job or your truck for that matter.

I saw that receiver on eBay and was thinking about buying it, because I have a Laramie V8 with tow/haul mode as well, and that receiver mounts onto the rear. From what i've seen and compared to other dakotas, is the stuff to haul is all there, but you need that receiver, which was stated to have a 7500lb capacity. I saw it on ebay from an OEM dodge reseller.
Don't wouldn't even waste your time buying that hitch off Ebay, as far as I'm concerned. I plan to remove it from my truck and purchase an after-market Class III. I would much rather have a welded reciever than a bolt on. Also, the price of the bolt on receiver is not much less than the price of a complete, brand new installed hitch w/ wiring.
Just because you have Tow Haul mode doen't mean you are set up for towing. The Tow package comes with larger Alternator, Radiator with Trans cooler, and wiring for trailer..
my o5 came from factory with the good class three hitch. 7500 lb towing capacity. bumper hitches are not that reliable. i know my hitch can stand the punishment by pulling stumps out of ground after doing yard work
Hi all,
Just traded my baby in. 99 R/T Dakota. Bought new '06 hated to sell but wanted a new truck.
But to get to the subject, the Tow/Haul switch just cuts out the overdrive.
The 99 just had the switch labeled as OD.
I have the tow package on the 06 and was confussed about this button also,
Just had to open the owners manual. lol.

06RTDAK,
The Tow/Haul mode is more that just O/D On/Off. It is actually designed to provide longer gear holds while accelerating to provide longer pulling power and also causes the transmission to down shift earlier during decel to provide more engine braking.
This feature is standard on all 5-45RFE transmissions in the Dakota and Ram.
